Beatriz Monteavaro's work is informed by the comic books and
cartoons she eagerly followed as a child, and by the MTV videos,
cheap sci-fi and B-horror movies we're all bombarded with today.
But her highly rendered drawings and earnest video art is neither
nostalgic nor blatantly ironic. She says: "I examine the
pitfalls associated with social classification. I develop plots
that portray two or more groups in Conflict. The narratives
examine the role of ethics, stereotypes, power, heroism and
loyalty in our society."
