When
West Palm Beach painter Kevin Cummins talks about his
work he often mentions Marcel Duchamp, the artist who
famously said that "Art happens somewhere between
the brain and the hands." Cummins¹s earth
tones and mystic shapes recall European Surrealism;
the large scale of his paintings seems influenced by
American Abstract Expressionism. He¹s undoubtedly
a painter of this century, but his work sometimes seems
like an archaic roadmap leading from the brain to the
hands.
